The "Reading Buddy Program for Tekir National School (SK Kg Tekir) Year 6 Pupils" endeavors to tackle the pervasive reading and writing challenges within the indigenous community. Recognizing the critical importance of literacy in empowering communities, this project aims to establish a Reading Buddies Program, pairing FELA (Faculty of Education and Liberal Arts) staff and the students from the mobility program who are enrolled in the IEP (Intensive English Program) with Year 6 pupils to provide personalized mentorship.
The indigenous community of SK Kg Tekir continues to grapple with significant reading and writing difficulties, hindering educational progress and community empowerment. By addressing these challenges head-on, this project seeks to empower the indigenous community through education, laying the foundation for improved literacy outcomes and broader socio-economic development. By nurturing a love for reading and fostering educational empowerment, this project endeavors to catalyze positive change and pave the way for a brighter future for SK Kg Tekir and its residents.
