Sejahtera Community: Elderly FELDA settlers’ accessibility to health promotion and healthcare services for improving quality of life

This project is a community-engagement-based health initiative that focuses on healthy ageing for FELDA settlers in Kuantan, Pahang. As the ageing population in Malaysia increases, there will be a rising demand in healthcare services, notably in managing chronic diseases and nursing care. Continuous health promotion to the community and supporting the existing healthcare services are critical to the sustainability of the healthcare system as we move towards being an ageing nation.

Our project aims to transform health, well-being, and social dynamics within families and communities through activities such as need assessments, health screenings, education, advocacy, trainer training, home visits, vaccination promotion, and intergenerational programmes. Evaluations revealed improved awareness, knowledge, and attitudes toward health, along with reduced unnecessary healthcare costs stemming from preventable complications. By fostering community engagement and empowerment, we strive for lasting positive impact on health outcomes and quality of life.
