Change today protect tomorrow – 10 years of digital publishing

In its tenth anniversary year www.susthingsout.com was co-created by cross-disciplinary students, academics, and expert practitioners to support a University of Worcester wide elective offering. This innovative pedagogy of an online magazine and virtual learning environment promoted and facilitates learning for sustainability in the wider undergraduate curriculum. It includes activities on campus and in the wider community thereby helping to realise a commitment to make an outstanding contribution to sustainable communities.

Continuously evolving, it enhances students’ employment prospects and communication skills by applying theoretical knowledge and learning. The online magazine has helped to ensure sustainability competencies, preparing students for the increasing importance of this field, and encouraging the critical discussion of issues of sustainability.

The transdisciplinary perspective in digital sustainability education creates in-depth work experience opportunities for students to engage as co-leaders towards sustainable solutions. It has provided a more hopeful, transformative style of education that leaves students with a strong sense of agency and hope for the future.
