The University of Reading is, and has always been, committed to using our knowledge and expertise to drive action to make real change; we place significant importance on collaboration as the key to achieving and expediting this.
As one of the world’s leading centres for the study of climate and with a top 100 world ranking in Education, we are well-positioned to lead action to improve climate education for children and young people in the UK.
We have used our convening power and world-class climate and education expertise to bring together partners to develop and deliver a National Climate Education Action Plan. We have developed a strong, trust-based, and action-oriented network that continues to work together to tackle the defining crisis of our generation. We are intent on working in partnership to help people understand our changing climate and be empowered to respond – importantly, including young people who will be most affected.
This project has built something remarkable out of the experiences of the pandemic. This is a high-quality project, with some great impact already in evidence. Good spread across the UK and a wide range of activities with a relatively small budget.
“I am proud that our work to transform climate education in the UK has been recognised with this award. At the University of Reading we are committed to playing our part in tackling climate change and its impacts and are bringing people together to deliver meaningful change at scale and at pace.”
Professor Robert Van de Noort, Vice Chancellor
