This project aimed to help those in need especially citizens affected during the flood disaster in Selangor. University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) staff, especially from the Islamic Centre itself and academicians as well as the technicians were all involved in this project - with one objective - to distribute the donations collected by all the UniMAP staff. Over a short period of two weeks, we were able to collect a large amount of money and necessity items such as pillows, blankets, and sanitary ware. We made this project go viral through social media and tried our best to make ensure this project was implemented.
As part of the project, we were able to visit one of the affected UniMAP Alumni students and their family, whose house was flooded with water. They had to wait two days before the police and fire brigade came to their rescue. Together with the children and old folk, they were fortunate to survive and were evacuated to a safe place. This mission made all the volunteers feel extremely grateful and very relieved that all the kind donations managed to be distributed to those in need. Hats off to all the UniMAPians!
