A Clean Air Cycle to School

Although many of us are doing all we can to help our environment, it’s vital that we also educate young people about the issues we face so they can help bring about meaningful and positive change in the future. But how do we engage them in heavy subject matter such as air pollution? And, just as importantly, how do we do so without scaring them?

The University of Winchester and Southampton City Council may just have the answer. Via the accessible, entertaining, and friendly format of the picture book A Clean Air Cycle to School, KS1 & KS2 pupils in the Southampton area have been learning about their local environment, and what they can do to help protect it from air pollution.

With over 200 children receiving a book so far, and a second print run in production, we’re gradually spreading the word to young people that they can make a difference.

3. Local authorities and HE institutions are well-suited to collaborate on such projects.
