The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) is Scotland’s tertiary education and research authority. SFC’s ambition is to make Scotland an outstanding place to learn, educate, research and innovate. Our purpose is to sustain a world-leading system of tertiary education, research and innovation that enables students to flourish; changes lives for the better; and supports social, economic and environmental wellbeing and prosperity.

One of SFC’s key priorities is to ensure institutions respond effectively to the climate emergency, embedding climate action and the just transition to net zero in our forward strategies, accountability frameworks and investments; and expecting colleges and universities to use their expertise and activities to deliver a prosperous, low-carbon future.
