I have developed a new wind turbine semisubmersible floating concept to prove the wind turbine would be feasible for deployment in harsh sea environments and applicable to the North Sea industry applications in the Norwegian and the UK Continental Shelf.
My research work involved significant hydrodynamic complexity and modelling and is a benchmark of hydrodynamic analysis of such novel systems to be produced in the UK soon, since the feasibility of the concept has been proven to support the next-generation high-power wind turbines to unlock more robust and consistent wind source in 50 to 100m deep waters in harsh environments of Southern North Sea. The role of TFI Marine polymer mooring components in the cost-effective design of the catenary mooring system is highlighted.
