Rachel Bramwell, Accreditation and Licensing Officer, Academic Services

Finalist

Birmingham City University

Living near Moseley Bog, I experienced nature's positive impact, fuelling my passion for environmental conservation. This led me to volunteer beyond my Academic Services role at Birmingham City University (BCU), joining the Environmental Champion Network and pursuing an MSc in Environment, Development, and Politics. My dissertation on BCU’s sustainability awareness influenced the University's Environmental Communications Strategy, boosting engagement.

As an Environmental Champion, I have driven initiatives such as recycling incentive, litter picks, and biodiversity events, collaborating with diverse stakeholders in the process. I lead on implementing a biodiversity action plan through the Hedgehog Friendly Campus, coordinating wildlife-friendly initiatives, and organising campus litter picks.

These efforts foster a sustainable and inclusive community at BCU.
