Working in partnership with colleagues from Energy and Carbon Management, and members from the University’s sustainable lab programme LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework), the Sustainability Team have launched the ’Queen’s Sustainable Lab Fund’ to aid labs in reducing their overall environmental impact.
By working collaboratively, staff, technicians and PhD students have implemented 4 successful lab projects that aim to encourage more sustainable actions within their labs and across the laboratory community in the university. With a funding pot consisting of £35,000, labs can purchase equipment that decreases their environmental impact, including reducing energy usage, water consumption and decreasing the amount of unnecessary waste being generated.
