Within the University of Bradford, I am regarded as an inspiring leader and a specialist in environmental economics and public policy with a focus on the interface of urban economy, environment, and sustainability.
I am a senior member of the University Sustainable Development Programme Board and have delivered significant organisational change across the institution, forging operational functions, and influencing links between students, academic staff, professional services teams, and external organisations.
My personal commitment and drive have resulted in the UN SDG Accord, the development of an institutional Sustainability Pledge, creation of a Sustainable Development Programme Project Board, the formation of a successful and influential Sustainable Student Society, student and academic stakeholder status on all future sustainability related policies and procedures, linking of sustainability and the UN SDGs to staff PDRs.
I have taken the principals of the UN SDGs from the teaching arena to the operational function of Professional Services teams and the external supply chain to generate awareness, inspiration, and positive action for change.
You have achieved a lot and with a whole-institution approach, engaging staff and students in all functions. Especially impressive is that you integrated sustainability into staff personal development plans. It is great that you also motivate international universities to follow your example.
“I am so proud that Anand has won this prestigious award. He has led great work at Bradford, like signing the UN Sustainable Development Accord, and making connections between the teaching, professional service operations, and our supply chain. Receiving a Green Gown recognition is a powerful endorsement of his inspirational work.”
