One Million Trees Project

One of the most serious environmental issues affecting Sri Lanka is the deforestation of its land. According to a UN country report, Sri Lanka’s forest coverage has reduced drastically from 53% in 1990 to 29% in 2012 and this is corroborated by statistics maintained by the Department of Forestry and Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

Therefore, Oxford College of Business (OCB) made progress in its environmental initiatives including reforestation, conservation through education and planting.

Accordingly, Oxford College of Business and OCB Alumni along with Rotary One Million Trees Trust (Guarantee) Ltd, planted 15,000 trees under the One Million Trees Project in planting sites located in Thalawakele Plantations in Great Western Estate.
