I have been an enthusiastic Go Green Champion at Aston University for 13 years, participating in numerous sustainability campaigns and launching several of my own initiatives.
It began while I was working in library services. I volunteered as a Go Green Champion for the library’s Go Green team, promoting green initiatives for staff and students to create a healthier, more sustainable campus.
One of my notable initiatives is my involvement with ‘Suited for Success,’ a UK charity offering free interview coaching, clothing, and employment preparation for those facing unemployment, homelessness, and poverty. My connection to the charity began when I moved to the Digital Services department and initiated a Suit Drive.
I also established the University as a collection point for the Walkers crisp packet recycling scheme, significantly engaging students, staff, and the local community in recycling. Additionally, I set up the University as a collection point for Bic writing instrument recycling and organized recycling challenges within Digital Services and other University departments.
In my spare time, I run a small charity stall, Missi Mulla’s Gifts, making and selling small gifts for various events and fairs, with all proceeds going to charity.
