Energy Advice Centre at London South Bank University

London South Bank University  (LSBU) Energy Advice Centre (EAC) is a free public advice service that provides a valuable resource and support hub for individuals and organisations seeking guidance on energy-related matters. Its purpose is to deliver comprehensive advice, information, and solutions to promote energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings, whilst also helping to reduce energy bills and tackle fuel poverty. The EAC is staffed by LSBU students working under the supervision of staff from the School of Engineering.

The Energy Advice Centre has been founded in light of the cost-of-living crisis, which was triggered by rising energy prices in the autumn of 2022 (the price cap increased by almost 280% since the 2021/2022 winter). The project has been running for 6 months and will continue indefinitely.

The EAC is an outreach initiative sitting within the School of Engineering but with collaboration across LSBU to draw in multidisciplinary skills.

The aim of the project was to deliver 100 pieces of advice and 1000 interactions with the community within a year of project initiation. We have already reached 74% of our project target in relation to advice, and greatly exceeded our target regarding interactions.

Annual carbon savings achieved with the initiative:
