Laura Tuckey

Finalist

University of Chester

Throughout my studies, I have maximised my involvement in sustainability-related activities; from my work placement as an Environmental Planning Assistant at StoryHouse the city’s cultural venue, to Project Coordinator for Welly Wednesdays - a student conservation group helping to increase environmental engagement.

I have delivered Carbon Literacy training, developed, and facilitated workshops at Youth Green conferences, been elected Sustainability Officer on Student Council, and worked as a Research Assistant in youth sustainability research at the University. It could have been easy to only focus on my degree and leave sustainability issues for the University staff, but getting involved in a variety of activities has helped me feel more purposeful in my own sustainability journey, as action is the best counter to feelings of eco-anxiety.

As climate action becomes more necessary with every passing day, being an active, involved citizen can help not only the planet, but those around us too.
