King Faisal University (KFU) has adopted a distinctive institutional identity that aims to contribute to the achievement of food security and environmental sustainability. During its course of promoting food security and environmental sustainability, KFU, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, has demonstrated through tangible projects its capability of solving food security problems, including in the entire Kingdom.
A stand-out project among these projects was the Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (Saudi GAP). Saudi GAP has been applied to design and implement good agricultural practices in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), by setting special standards for the best good practices in the fields of agriculture and animal production. Experts at KFU have undertaken to train farmers around KSA to implement the best agricultural practices. Those efforts have ultimately led to a sustainable agricultural sector that achieves optimal exploitation of natural resources and hence improve people’s lives.
