When the University declared a climate emergency, our Head of School suggested we create a sustainability group. I took the chance to form and chair what’s become our Sustainability Action Committee, and act as our school’s Climate Action Plan coordinator.

Over the past 3 years I’ve embedded sustainable practices into all that we do within the School of Physics. From addressing the sustainability of our events and advocating for a shift to plant-based catering, to reducing single use items.

Leading on much of the school’s work towards the NUS Green Impact awards, I supported us in achieving a silver award in 2019 and gold in 2020. And in 2021, I coordinated with all 135 of the school’s labs to achieve 100% LEAF Green Labs accreditation.

I also grow staff and student engagement through activities such as developing a wildflower garden outside our building, as well as producing a monthly sustainability newsletter.
