GREENUS is a project that supports the modernization, accessibility and market-oriented higher education in Vietnamese Universities in order to contribute to the development of sustainable and inclusive socio-economic growth (in addition to national ownership, social cohesion, equity, proper geographical balance and diversity). The main objectives of the project are to establish 6 new courses on waste management/environmental protection and establish pilot-scale Eco-Campus activities in 3 Universities in Vietnam.
The elaborated courses are be based on an innovative approach that includes the respect of both European and local quality standards, the promotion of students and professor’s mobility, the internationalization of education and the promotion of the recycling culture.
Eco-Campus activities focus on disseminating correct information and contribute to a social change where people are aware of the impact they have on the environment and of being able to make a difference by promoting and practicing the separation of waste and where possible, their reuse. In this sense, each Eco-Campus responds to the need of local communities (including university staff and students) who will benefit from a” learning by doing” action.
Participating in this project, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) expects to upgrade its international programmes in the field of environmental management to provide qualified human resources being able to solve national waste issues, particularly in Southern Vietnam, where the environmental problems are getting worse year after year.
