When working as a Socially Engaged Photographer in Residence with the University of Salford Art Collection Team in 2021/22, I ran a four-day workshop exploring ways to creatively express key learning from the IGNITION project, an innovative Greater Manchester wide exploring Nature Based Solutions (NBS) for climate change adaptation. During the workshop, I created and facilitated a range of practical photographic activities, including nature and plant-based methods of imaging making.

The project allowed the young people to explore new and engaging ways of communicating ideas and concepts surrounding the climate emergency and creating calls to actions. Additionally, the project encouraged the young people to use photography as a lens through which to connect with experts and undertake peer-to-peer learning with others who have participated in the IGNITION project.

The workshops resulted in an exhibition – “Planting for the Planet” – displayed at RHS Bridgewater May-August 2022.
