Dr. Noha Saleeb, Associate Professor in Creative Technologies and Construction

Winner

Middlesex University

With an incessant commitment to aligning to all UN Sustainable Development Goals within my construction discipline, I have led/implemented a sustainability impact project, published on EAUC SDG Accord Report 2024 Case Studies’ website, that inspired staff from all our university faculties to transform how they embed practical sustainable teaching in their programmes and research, through my dissemination activities within university.

Through this endeavour, I merged the engagement of multiple under-graduate and post-graduate multi-disciplined student cohorts, community building users, with multi-national industry partners and UK/Egypt government organisations in a live 4-year Institutional-Links funded Sustainability Heritage Renovation project. This project’s outputs not only achieved all 17 UN SDGs, but empowered our students to achieve all SDGs, after I aligned our programmes to all of them.

These outputs were implemented within Westminster Palace renovations, and Egypt started adopting them within heritage buildings with a 5-year strategy to increase tourism-related jobs by 3Million, annual GDP by 12Billion, with co2 savings of ~2.8tonnes/year/building. As such I was named a thought leader in sustainable pedagogical design by our university strategy theme directors, delivering international keynote speeches in this area.
