Saving Mothers, Protecting the Womb through innovation of a low-cost, solar-powered water purification technology

The "Saving Mothers, Protecting the Womb" project led by Daffodil International University supported by the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA), UKAID, focuses on addressing climate change, public health, and gender issues in Bangladesh.

This project develops the low-cost 'SolarAchieve' system, a frugal innovation providing clean drinking water to coastal pregnant women and addressing the critical issue of salinity in the face of climatic adversities in the region. Through community engagement, it aims to develop sustainable, culturally sensitive solutions that enhance local participation. Daffodil International University's local and international collaborations enhance its leadership in development challenges, enhancing its profile as an innovative leader in sustainable development.

The project's outcomes are measured by its impact on public policies, community technology adoption, and improved maternal health, contributing directly to Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 6. Additionally, pioneering research on the health impacts of saline water consumption on pregnancy informs policy and development, ensuring the project's effectiveness in fostering policy influence and enhancing community resilience.
