The goal is to design and implement an Internet of things (IoT) -based smart energy meter system that will collect the data from the user's location, use it for the bill calculating process and proper monitoring and controlling of energy consumption. The IoT based energy meter system mainly consists of three major parts i.e., Controller, Wi-Fi, and Theft detection part. The accurate amount and display messages will be updated to the user's website and smartphone. Therefore, energy analyzation by the consumer becomes much easier and controllable.
Whenever there is any fault or theft, the theft detection sensor senses the error and circuit response according to the information it receives. The controller plays a major role in the system to ensure that all the components are working properly. Therefore, increases the reliability and durability. The smart energy meter system also enables the electricity department to read the meter readings monthly without a person visiting each house.
The system will also be able detect power theft. Thus, this smart energy meter will be useful in commercial/residential buildings using IoT and enabling wireless communication which is a great step towards Digital Bangladesh.
